arock1957 Great mix of psychedelic jazz fusion. Don't really know how to describe, but very cool, imaginative music! Favorite track: Pinocchio's Surfboard.

about

Utilizing 8 string and piccolo basses, Malcolm Norman brings to you a collection of three instrumentals taking you on an excursion into his imagination and hopefully the listener's as well. The beautiful thing about instrumental music is that everyone can conjure up images and fantasies in their own minds without the distraction of a lyric. Each song is presented with a description of the images ( hallucinations ? ) that sprung into Malcolm's psyche.
In Malcolm's own words " I've always been fascinated about the possibilities of creating music with just bass guitars and drums. And the occasional keyboard pattern to supply a harmonic and additional melodic center. I've been particularly inspired by John Paul Jones solo albums. and of course my favorite bass players have always been the ones who are innovators on their instrument- Geezer Butler, Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, Billy Sheehan and Jaco, just to name a few ! "
But never fear, guitar players- the track " Egypt " features Malcolm's friend Brian Quarles laying down some killer guitar that definitely takes the song to another level !
From Pinocchio's adventures surfing tsunamis, battling killer mermaids and forming alliances with narwhals; angry bees getting their groove on to an exotic middle eastern riff; and travelling across the burning sands with the pyramids looming in the background, just remember to let your imagination be your guide.
